My name is Kolya Lynne Smith and I started Hold To Heal in June of 2020, when I finished my training. Because of the pandemic, I've had to hold off until now, to start doing touch therapy sessions.
My first introduction to the healing power of touch came in 2002, when I went to my first Reiki session. I was astounded by how good I felt after each session. I wanted to learn more! My Reiki Master trained/attuned me in Reiki I, so I could do Reiki on myself, in between sessions. Then I was trained/attuned to Reiki II , so I could do Reiki on others. And finally Reiki III (Masters) in April of 2007, so I could teach and attune others to Reiki.
Touch has always been my love language. Meaning, I feel loved when I'm touched and I share my love with others, through the healing power of touch. I belonged to an affectionate community from around 2011 til 2015. I was hugged and held often. During that time, I was rarely sick, despite having Multiple Sclerosis, which made me realize how powerful touch is. It boosts your immune system. As soon as I stopped being around them, I was getting sick constantly. I'm working on a research proposal on touch and the immune system.
I belong to Cuddle Professionals International. I learned about a new program, Trusted Touch® which trains you to provide therapeutic touch to different demographics, than you would with just cuddling. With my background in healing Reiki, this aligned with my values. Trusted Touch® helps the elderly (especially with Alzheimer's and dementia), hospice patients, disabled, medical and mental issues, infants, etc.
I've seen and personally experienced the effects of touch deprivation; loneliness, depression, physical pain, failure to thrive, etc. I wanted to ease that in others and have them experience the healing affects of touch; relaxation - specific muscles and/or widespread, lowered blood pressure, pain relief, feeling loved and connected, boost the immune system, improved sleep and more.
The last few years have been extremely hard on those who were already touch deprived, who are affectionate and couldn't be, isolation from family and friends, dealing with intense stress and not having touch to calm their nervous systems, and other situations that would have benefited from healing Trusted Touch®

What is Touch Therapy?
Touch therapy is reassuring, consensual physical touch. I'm also incorporating Reiki for even more powerful healing.
